Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) announces notification for OCES (Orientation Course for Engineering Graduates and Science Postgraduates) /DGFS(DAE Graduate Fellowship Scheme) posts.
In case if you have not applied, you can apply online.
For detail, you can read the notification brochure published by BARC.
OCES exam syllabus is more or less similar to GATE exam. If you have prepared for the GATE exam very well, it is very helpful for you.
As per my understanding, I am mentioning a few subjects from BARC syllabus for CSE. If you are a CS student, then you should put more focus on these following subjects.
This is the only basic programming language you should good at.
2. Computer Networks
Some of the important topics for Computer Network.
3. Theory Of Computation
Here, important topics are deadlock mechanism, process, thread, and synchronization.
5. Database Management System (DBMS)
6. Data Structures and Algorithms
7. Computer Organization and Architecture
You can put light on the microprocessor and micro-controller.
8. Compiler Design
9. Digital Logic
10. Engineering Mathematics
You can find some questions from Probability, Permutations, Combinations, Graph Theory, Set Theory, Algebra.
You may say I have listed all the GATE subject in BARC syllabus for CSE. But yes, all these topics are very important. At least you should know the basics behind each topic.
Here are some quick tips I would like to share with your guys.
How many questions will be there in the BARC exam and time?
There will be 100 questions. You have to solve them in two hours.
Based on the difficulty level of the questions, two hours are not sufficient to solve all the questions.
Time is very less and questions are lengthy to solve.
Here, time management is very crucial as like all competitive examination. You have to very quick to answer without making mistakes. Be confident while attending BARC exam and answer the questions.
Note: There are no aptitude questions asked in BARC exam.
Is there negative marking in BARC exam?
Yes. One mark will be deducted from your score for every wrong answer.
Some important topics to prepare for Online BARC exam.
The time I had attended BARC online exam, online test interface was not much user-friendly. And no need to much worries about it as it is going to be the same for all candidates.
Tip: Make note of all the topics from BARC syllabus for CSE while preparing for the online test. And put more focus on the subject which you find difficult as every subject matters.
After the exam, you will be called for an interview if you are shortlisted from the online test.
I would say, this is a phase where the interviewer committee filters future scientists those will be work for BARC. :p I am very glad to get a call for BARC interview.
The interviewing committee is very polite and helpful.
Here is something very interesting. They asked me to choose five subjects of my interest. Choose subjects those are you find comfortable. All the question in the interview was asked around/from these five subjects. If they ask you any question, tell them everything you know.
For clearing this interview, here are some tips you should follow.
The interviewer starts to build momentum from your basics. And then keep asking each topic to the depth of your knowledge.
